The Joe W. Brown Park Rec Center was named in tribute to philanthropist,  Joe W. Brown, who donated 163 acres of land to the city of New Orleans in 1957, now called Joe W. Brown Memorial Park. The Rec Center “Gym” is located at the center of the park, and is host to several sports, primarily basketball, featuring beautiful wall posters and signage of famous NBA stars.
