Annual Events
At Friends of Joe W. Brown Park/New Orleans East Matters, our mission is to enhance and improve the image of New Orleans East for the community by providing a communal and welcoming environment for all. We strive to promote health, wellness, and community engagement through various events and activities held at the park throughout the year. Join us in celebrating the beauty of nature and the joy of being together!
The Annual NOLA East Festival is an opportunity to share fun, entertainment, good food, and various activities with our community. This event funds the development of our JWB Park Carousel. To volunteer, become a sponsor, or donate, click here.
The annual toy giveaway and festive light show is a huge blessing to our community. From taking pictures with Santa, enjoying a snack, riding the train, and being entertained by festive performances, the Winter Wonderland experience is full of unforgettable moments. We volunteer by serving food and assisting with the toy giveaway.
The Annual Heart Walk is a Healthy Heart Community Prevention Project in New Orleans East. This is an event where nature, health, and community hold hands. The heart walk begins at the Audubon Louisiana Nature Center where we warm up and walk the trails. Following the walk, attendees get to enjoy a health lecture along with refreshments and door prizes. A percentage of the proceeds is donated to the American Heart Association.
This April Market featured a tribute to Lincoln Beach and featured the first Lincoln Beach Neighborhood Association meeting, with Ryan and Candice Taylor, as well as our organization’s “Love The Boot” Cleanup and Beautification initiative, including a mural by artist, Ransom McCormick. Non profit organization, “Greenlight” featured rain barrels. Small business vendors provided fresh farm vegetables, snowballs, catfish plates, barbecue, desserts, jewelry, handbags, and artistic trays and accessories.
