Volunteer Opportunities

The following are the needed NOLA East Festival Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities. There will be three shifts 10:30a-3:30p, 2:30p-8:30p and All Day 10:30a-8:30p. Please recruit other volunteers as a replacement backup if an emergency arises. Be at your stations 30 mins before start time and please do not leave until your replacement arrives. Each volunteer will receive a FOJWBP Concession Stand meal ticket (Hotdog or Nachos, and Drink). Volunteer t-shirt will be provided to NEW VOLUNTEERS ONLY. Previous volunteers, please wear your volunteer t-shirt given from previous years. Saturday, August 31 is the Volunteer Signup Deadline

Set Up

Friday, 9/20 2 pm - (20 Volunteers)

A group will set up Festival VIPs, Sponsors, Entertainment and Info tables, Vendor Tents based on vendor map layout. Install Festival Sponsor banners. Install Festival lineup and Parking signage and cones for fence entrances, VIP, Sponsors, Entertainment, FOJWBPark/NOEM Staff Parking Setup, festival barricades, and trash disposal boxes. Setup Team Leader will coordinate all. The group will also deliver water and ice to the VIP, Sponsors, and Entertainment Tents on the morning of the festival, Saturday, 9/21.

Saturday, 9/21 8 am-11 am (20 Volunteers)

A group will assist Festival VIP, Sponsors, Entertainers, Vendors, Youth Zone Activity Area, and FOJWBPark/NOEM. Volunteers will help stock tents, concession stands, and more. Volunteers will arrive a couple of hours before the festival begins and help with these set-up tasks. Volunteers will be released after the Tents, Signage & Banners, and Barricades setup have been confirmed and staged. 

Clean Up

assigned to clean-up duty. Do not sign up for any other task to remain separate from other groups to avoid overworking. Although when assigned to your station and task, ensure that you understand your clean-up duty of expectation with other team volunteers. remain separate from other groups to avoid overworking.

Vendor Support

Necessities & Assistance, to escort Vendors to their location as indicated on the map and ensure they leave the festival
premises to park in their designated parking location.

Youth Zone Activity Area

Asist to manage and monitor youth activity location (Band Train, NOLA Swing, Tub of Fun) as highlighted on the festival map near the FOJWB Concession

Advocates

Advocates-Volunteers are needed to create a positive experience for attendees and ensure the festival event reaches its Friends of Joe W. Brown Memorial Park Carousel fundraising targets. Advocacy-focused volunteers can help spread the word about the NOLA East Festival among attendees and encourage them to donate or join your team as volunteers themselves. Share festival flyers with local businesses, churches, neighborhoods, and schools.

Photographers/Videographers 

Volunteer photographers and videographers who can document the festival, providing high-quality promotional materials for future festival event promotions. Looking for volunteer photographers and videographers who are looking to build their portfolios. We empower you to capture the festival event and share the images through your social media channels. Create a unique event hashtag #nolaeastfestival that volunteers can use to share images.

Concessions

Concessions-Volunteers to manage Friends of Joe W. Brown Beverage and Lemonade concessions booths that our Friends of Joe W. Brown Park nonprofit sponsors. Volunteers to check IDs while selling alcohol. (festival will follow the state’s laws about minimum age requirements for selling alcoholic beverages).

Information

to manage event entrance. A team of volunteers to assist Check Festival VIP, Sponsors and Vendor and
FOJWBPark/NOEM staff on hand volunteers. Knowledgeable about the various attractions at the festival event so they can answer questions.

Parking

Parking volunteers for festival attendees to
avoid confusion and frustration to direct traffic and assist with parking. Volunteers are to ensure that the festival parking facility is used as efficiently and safely as possible. Assigned to Paid Police Assignments align their station along the Park Entrance and bridge parking with Orange cones and barricades. Once Greater St Stephens and NORDc Pool parking lots are full notify the Parking Committee Chair

Stage Assistance

Stagehands-Volunteers to assist the artist at the stages and performance areas to help backstage and provide the artists with everything they need. If possible. These volunteers should have stage management and tech experience. Stagehand volunteers can assist with everything from tech and stage set-up to helping with mid-show technical difficulties.

Floaters

Floating volunteers to provide support to other teams as needed throughout the festival event. For example, if a different team has a no-show, a floating volunteer can step into that role to fill any gaps in your team.
